Operating principle

The Shahed-136 is a one-way attack drone (OWA) that, as a category, embodies the doctrine of "saturation over precision". Configuration: a delta-wing canard flying-wing about 3.5 m long, propelled by an MD-550 / Mado-550 four-stroke piston engine (an Iranian copy of the Limbach L550E) with a wooden propeller — strikingly loud (the "flying lawnmower"). Cruise speed ~180 km/h, altitude 100–4,000 m (typically low to exploit the radar horizon), range 1,500–2,500 km, warhead ~50 kg. The Shahed is launched in salvos of 5–10 from a rail launcher on a truck or fixed installation.
