Operating principle
The Mogami is JMSDF's first truly "multi-mission" frigate — 5,500 tons, stealth shaping (faceted superstructure), small crew (90 — automation replaces crew), 16 Mark 41 VLS, 8 Type 17 SSM, 5-inch Mark 45 Mod 4. The first Japanese frigate export attempt is in the Australian SEA 3000 tender (Mogami vs MEKO A-200, decision 2024–2025).
