Astute-class SSN

The Astute class is the Royal Navy's SSN — 7 boats built by BAE Systems (Barrow). Length 97 m, 7,400 tons, single Rolls-Royce PWR2 reactor (with enough fuel for the 25-year service life — no mid-life refueling needed). Armament: 38 weapons (Tomahawk Block IV, Spearfish torpedoes, Sub-Harpoon). The Astute class is succeeded by SSN-AUKUS — a UK-Australian-US next-gen SSN with British primary design and US VPM payload, IOC late 2030s. Not for export.
