Operating principle
The Type 26 (City class for the RN, Hunter class for the RAN, River-class FFM for the RCN) is BAE Systems' modern ASW frigate. 150 m, 6,900 tons, CODLOG (gas turbine + diesel-electric). 24 Mark-41 VLS cells + 24 Sea Ceptor (CAMM) cells, 5-inch Mark 45 main gun, dual MK-49 RAM, Wildcat helicopter. Strong ASW suite with Sonar 2150, Sonar 2087 towed array, and MU90 or Stingray torpedoes. Users: UK (8), Australia (9), Canada (15 — the largest fleet).
