MBDA Storm Shadow / SCALP-EG
MBDA · Produced in United Kingdom
Operating principle
Storm Shadow (UK) / SCALP-EG (France) is the European MBDA cruise missile occupying the same niche as JASSM-ER. Length 5.1 m, weight 1,300 kg, range 250–550 km (depending on version and export variant — export versions are often <300 km for MTCR), payload BROACH tandem warhead (a small precursor charge opens the armor, the main charge detonates inside). Propulsion TR60-30 turbojet. Stealth airframe with RCS performance comparable to JASSM. Guidance: INS + GPS + terrain matching, and in the terminal phase an IIR seeker with "automatic target recognition" — the missile camera compares the actual target scene with a 3D model loaded beforehand and verifies it is hitting the correct object. Deployed from Tornado, Typhoon, Rafale, Su-24M (Ukraine, modified), F-15E (potential).
