Operating principle

The Akıncı ("raider") is Baykar's HALE-class answer to the Reaper, but with a twin-engine, twin-boom configuration: two turboprops (Ukrainian Ivchenko AI-450T or Turkish PD-170), 20 m wingspan, 12,000 m ceiling and 24-hour endurance. The larger airframe allows it to carry a substantially greater payload (~1,350 kg internal and external) plus a larger SAR radar and signal-intelligence pod. The Akıncı is intended for missions where the TB2 is too limited: long-range strike with SOM-A cruise missiles, anti-submarine patrol with sonobuoys, and strategic ISR.
