Operating principle
The Ofek series are Israeli optical reconnaissance satellites (since 1988); Ofek-16 (launched 2020) has sub-meter panchromatic resolution. TecSAR are SAR satellites (synthetic-aperture radar) — capable of seeing through clouds and darkness. IAI Elta has exported a TecSAR derivative to Italy, Singapore, Azerbaijan; a reported sale to Ethiopia in 2024 is under review.
