Operating principle

The BM-30 Smerch is a 300 mm 12-tube tracked MLRS, range 70–90 km with guided rocket. Tornado-S is the more modern variant (2017+). Russian market share weakened in the 2020s due to Western precision-MLRS dominance and Western sanctions. Users: Russia, Algeria, India, Belarus, Ukraine (former user, now replacing).
