Operating principle
The AH-1Z is the USMC's attack helicopter — a four-blade rotor system (different from the Apache's four-blade) on a twin-engine airframe based on the older Cobra. It shares 84% of components with the UH-1Y Venom (Huey derivative), simplifying Marine Corps logistics on amphibious ships. Two T700-GE-401C engines, max payload 2,620 kg, sensors TSS (Target Sight System) with FLIR and color CCD camera. Weapons: 16× Hellfire, 76× 2.75-inch rockets, 20 mm M197 Gatling. Users: USMC (primary), Bahrain, Czechia, Slovakia (in final stage), Nigeria, Pakistan (allowed in 2018 after earlier blockage).
