Operating principle

The Tiger HAD (Hélicoptère d'Appui Destruction) is the Franco-German-Spanish attack helicopter. Tandem cockpit, two MTR-390 turboshafts, mast-mounted optical sensor (no radar like the Apache). Weapons: HOT-3 or Hellfire-II (ATGM), Mistral (air-to-air), 30 mm GIAT cannon. The Tiger Mk3 upgrade has been in doubt since 2023; Australia retired its Tiger fleet early and replaced it with Apache E (2022 contract for 29 aircraft). France, Germany, Spain and Australia (out of service) are the only operators.
