Operating principle
The Type 12 SSM is Japan's own coastal-defense missile. Original 200 km range; the latest improved version (2024+) has >900 km range and is intended for both anti-ship and land-attack roles against China. Not (yet) exported, with a possible Philippines deal under negotiation in 2024–2025.
