Operating principle
The KF-21 Boramae ("young hawk") is the ROK's own 4.5-generation fighter — not full stealth but with low-observable airframe shaping and all modern avionics. Two F414-GE-400K turbofans, AESA radar (Hanwha LIG Nex1), IRST, EW suite, and from Block II internal weapon bays (the first Asian non-Chinese fighter with this feature). Mach 1.8, range 2,900 km. First Block-1 deliveries to RoKAF planned for 2026. Indonesia is co-financing partner (~20% of program) but payments are running late. UAE and Poland show interest. Unit price: ~USD 65 million (target).
