The Abrams has been the US main battle tank since 1980; the SEPv3 (System Enhancement Package Version 3, in service since 2020) and SEPv4 (testing 2024–2026) are the most modern variants. Length 9.77 m, weight 73.6 tons (SEPv3, partly due to extra armor), single AGT-1500 gas turbine of 1,500 hp (unique among MBTs — providing high acceleration but poor fuel efficiency and sand sensitivity), top speed 67 km/h. Main weapon 120 mm M256 smoothbore (Rheinmetall L/44 under license); secondaries 12.7 mm M2HB and 7.62 mm M240. Crew of 4 (commander, gunner, loader, driver).
