Operating principle

J-10C is a Chinese light fighter with a canard-delta layout, comparable to the Rafale in silhouette, with AESA radar, Chinese WS-10B turbofan, and the PL-15 BVR missile (comparable in range to the AIM-120D). J-16 is a two-seat Chinese version of the Su-30, built with Chinese AESA and avionics — an electronically capable air-superiority and strike platform. J-20A "Mighty Dragon" is China's first 5-gen stealth fighter: stealth shaping (canard-delta with S-shaped intakes), internal weapon bays for the PL-15 and PL-10, and from 2023 the indigenous WS-15 turbofan replacing the Russian AL-31FN. RCS estimates vary between 0.01–1 m² (classified). Pakistan received in 2022 around 25 J-10CEs (export version) as the first confirmed export customer — a politically charged sale opposite the Indian Rafale acquisition. The J-20 itself is not for export. J-35A (FC-31 derivative) is a naval variant in development, with a possible Pakistan contract reported in 2024.
