Operating principle
The AGM-158 JASSM (Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile) is a stealth cruise missile launched from B-1, B-2, B-52, F-15E/EX, F-16 and F-35 (internal weapon bay: F-35A/C external; F-35A internal possible from Block 4 software). The airframe has a very low radar cross-section thanks to a faceted body, folding wings that retract into the fuselage, and RAM coating. Range: JASSM baseline 370 km, JASSM-ER (Extended Range) 925 km, JASSM-XR (in development) ~1,900 km. Propulsion: a single Williams F107 turbofan. Warhead: 450 kg WDU-42/B penetrator warhead designed to punch through concrete bunker roofs for terminal detonation.
