H&K HK416 / G95 / M27 IAR

The HK416 is a 5.56×45 mm NATO assault rifle developed as an improved version of the M16/M4 with a short-stroke gas-piston system (Heckler & Koch's own design, inspired by the AR-18). This eliminates the M4's direct-impingement system that causes fouling; the HK416 therefore functions more reliably in dusty and wet environments. Four main variants (10.5", 11", 14.5", 16.5" barrel). Users: France (FAMAS replacement), Norway (HK416 N), Germany (G95), USMC (M27 IAR — Infantry Automatic Rifle).
