Operating principle
The AK-12 (5.45×39 mm) and AK-15 (7.62×39 mm) are modernizations of the Kalashnikov architecture — Picatinny rails, better stocks, dual-side fire selector. AK-19 is a 5.56 NATO export variant. RPK-16 is the squad automatic weapon. Market share is declining under Western sanctions, but the Russian industry (Izhmash/Kalashnikov Concern) remains a top global supplier for Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
